League Overview

Play Flag Football offers 5-on-5 non-contact flag football leagues sponsored by the NFL. Our programs are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14. Our leagues are located throughout Santa Clara County. We also offer a league in Fremont, and will expand up the Peninsula into Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Mateo, and San Francisco in the Fall.

All league play takes place on Sundays. Teams will meet and practice before their scheduled game times, and will play two games each Sunday. Games last 45 minutes. The season consists of two practice weeks, a pre-season game, ten regular-season games, and an end of season playoff jamboree.

We offer four separate seasons -- Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Our Spring and Fall seasons are our most popular. The typical team size is 8 to 10 children.

The cost to participate is $110. Each player will receive a full uniform, including an NFL team jersey, shorts, socks, flags and a mouthpiece. Players also receive a league t-shirt. All players will receive participation medals from the league at the end of the season.

What to Expect

Our largest seasons are our Spring and Fall seasons. These seasons both kick-off with a pre-season festival, where equipment is distributed and a variety of activities, including carnival games, fitness tests, football skills challenges, raffles, silent auctions, and more are presented. The summer and winter seasons do not have festivals. Equipment distribution for these seasons is handled at local businesses in the local league areas.

After the festival or equipment distribution, the first few weeks are spent in practices and scrimmage games. All activities are held on Sundays. When practice is complete, the teams move on to their regular season. Each weekend, teams will meet at the field before their games to practice. After their practices, they will play two games back-to-back. The season consists of 10 games. Finally, the league culminates with our end-of-season jamboree and playoff. All participants receive league awards at the end of the season.

Playing with Friends or Siblings

When you register your child, you will have the option of listing the names of friends or siblings whom you would like to request to have placed together with your child. We are typically able to accommodate these requests. These requests are not guaranteed, however, as on rare occasions, we are not able to accommodate them.

Forming Your Own Team

We do not currently accept team registrations. The most effective way to register a complete team is to have the coach register first, and then have the interested players request the coach under the Coach/Buddy Request section of registration.
