Signing up to coach is quick and easy. Simply go the registration page and click on Volunteer to start the process. Someone from Play Flag Football will contact you, and may ask you for additional information to complete our background check.
Once you've been accepted as a coach, you can let us know about your player requests, and let other kids know that they can request you as a coach when they register.
Our Coach's Meetings take place in mid-January. We will have several meetings at different locations throughout Northern California. Coaches are required to attend one of these meetings. We will distribute league equipment, review in detail the league guidelines and game rules, and answer any questions you may have. Team rosters are also made available during the first week of October.
The season kicks off on March 25th with the first league practices. Play Flag Football will provide you with a suggested weekly curriculum, as well as a comprehensive drill book to help you organize your practices.
Games begin on April 22nd. Play Flag Football will provide you with a variety of resources for play calling, as well as a game management guide to help you be an effective coach during games.
The season culminates with our League Tournament on June 3rd. We'll match your team up against other teams from throughout Northern California with similar win-loss records, and play an exciting round-robin format tournament.
June 10th will be the Coach's Tournament, where the coaches have an opportunity to come out and play in a fun 4-on-4 flag football tournament.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR COACHES
We expect that our coaches abide by our code of conduct, a common-sense list of behavioral guidelines for being in a leadership position in the league. We also ask our coaches to adhere to our league coaching philosophy, which lays out the goals and priorities of our organization.
